Hi! February's author of the month is.............. Henning Mankell!
This incredible author is a crime writer from Sweden who has written over 40 books! My favourite book by him is secrets in the fire which is about a girl who looses her father and moves around Mozambique! It is a series of three! the next one is playing with fire and the last one is fury in the fire!

Eve Edwards

Congratulations to Eve Edwards for being author of the month! I particularly enjoyed her book The Rouge's Princess which is all about Mercy; A rich merchants daughter who falls in love with an actor and an illegitimate son of an earl. Who will Mercy choose, her father or her true love? Find this book on the blog choice stand near the entrance! Along with this book are similar authors and possible future author of the month!

hello! the author of the month is a new feature which i'm very excited about!!!!!!
every month i will select an author who is a diverse, different and has written some brilliant books!
i hope to encourage you to read at least one a month, so that at the end of the academic year we will cast a vote on which author was the best. this will be like the carnegie awards but for newlands and you are the judges!!!!!!!

Bath festival of childrens literature

James Bowen is legendry!

So alot is happening at the moment so I'm sorrry that I haven't been blogging alot. It is nearly the end of term and everyone has tests and exams. BUT! there is somthing to look foward to, you know how I reccomended the legendry book "A Street Cat named Bob" by James Bowen; he is coming to waterstones in reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AND it is this saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Carnegie winner

As some of you may know; the winner of the children carnegie award for 2013 was .... Maggot Moon!
However, i don't think that it should of won because the carnegie award is a childrens award and it has many swear words in it, and because of this Mrs Evans has removed it off  the shelves.
But, as we had to select a winner for ourselves ( by we, i mean the carnegie shadowing group) we all voted for the lovely wonder by rj palacio. so read it!
